I have a Bachelor's degree in Physics, and I learned SO MUCH from you! I so appreciate all the teaching you put into your video, you covered everything and I wish I could give you more than just 1 thumbs up!
Great video! I have the same issue gonna try and test the rectifier myself. You gave a lot of good tips and information.
Great video Jake! leaned a lot from you in this video. I am an HVAC engineer and wasn't going to touch this project because of the high voltage concern until now. I have Frigidaire 2007 PLMV169DCE model, looks identical to yours inside. My microwave started growling/ humming and smelled of burning. Once removed the front panel I could see the Rectifier is burned up with grey ash like substance along the lower part of it. I ordered a new rectifier today, just wondering if that is the only thing bad? Yours wasn't scorched with grey ash like mine?
Nice video! Thank you for explaining the Anode and Cathode of the rectifier and showing bend end of Cathode. Appreciated your explanation.
Nice work. not many know about using a 9v DC battery in serries. I'm surprised you didn't notice a loud growl or hum when the unit was in operation. you can also get microwave parts from MCM
I really appreciated your rectifier video Jake, very helpful. Grab n iPhone mount and a small gorilla tripod. It’ll make your life so much easier! But again, thanks this confirmed which side of new diode was ground for me.
Nice work. I enjoyed the lesson. Thank you.
Nice video, very well explained.
Awesome video man. We gotta get you a tripod.
Thanks for the video! I have the same problem, but was going to try replacing the door switches first. Is it possible to do this withOUT taking the microwave off the wall?
Biggest question is the the OEM rectifier or can we count on the universal?
Great stuff Jake.
Thank you so much!!!!
I have the same microwave and I need that same part. Would you happen to have the part number? And also where can I get it? Thanks in advance.
I feel like I'm having the same problem. The microwave worked one night and then not the next morning. The display works, lights work and turn table works. I don't have any heat though and it makes a buzzing sound. I wanted to get the diode out but am having trouble trying to determine how to get it out. The screw that holds in the top part of the diode seems very inaccessible. Can you provide any details as to how you took it out. It doesn't look like you removed any thing besides the outer casing. Thanks and great video by the way. Very detailed. Thanks.
My microwave was turning on but not heating up it had a slight buzzing noise I did not notice before when it was working properly. The microwave is just over a year old? Would the buzzing noise be coming from a bad diode and causing the microwave not to heat? Or from the magnetron?
Can someone please tell me how to get the outer casing off so I can access the inside?
Great video…so I need a HVAC electrical tester? Or will a standard multimeter work?
great video....from hvac tech no less...like me.
I have the same microwave and it just went out randomly today while using the unit. The unit ran perfectly but no power at all. Do you think this is a fuse blown or something else? Thanks!
