Super helpful. I did turn off the power to the dishwasher, but otherwise left it in place. I was able to get to the parts without issue. That said, I am on the small side. I was trying to fix a leak, and thought it was the solenoid, based on the location of the leak. When I got the solenoid off, I realized the leak was coming from the drain valve seal, which is behind the solenoid. If you are already in there replacing the solenoid, it might not be a bad idea to replace the drain valve seal while you are there. All parts replaced. Ran the dishwasher and no leak. Thank you.
I pulled mine out and freed the piston then took a half inch drill but cleaned up the sleeve and made sure it moved freely. scrape any plastic off the piston and it worked fine. See if it lasts but so far about 10 cycles and no problem.

Does this repair even apply to newer GE dishwashers? I have model GDT695SBL3TS purchased in May 2018. It looks like fixing leaking drain pump means replacing the entire pump rather than the small rubber grommet and clip washer shown in other YouTube drain solenoid shaft leaks that relate to the motor pump assembly. Water leaking to the floor from the drain pump area during water evacuation cycles etc.
I need to change out my leaking solenoid, but I have do it without detaching/removing the dishwasher - the way it's in, I just can't do it, but the solenoid is accessible. Won't be as easy as changing it with the dishwasher on it's back, but far easier than pulling out he dishwasher.
This is helpful info for sure. but why I need to take out the entire dishwasher? all the bolts, springs, and gauge pins seem can be access from front direction. Could we just remove the lower panel and replace the solenoid please?
Way more work then actually needed. Good grief.
